Eton College Holidays & Leave Explained

Understanding Eton’s unique terminology is key to planning your parents’ calendar.

• Halves: Eton refers to its three terms as “Halves” (Michaelmas, Lent, and Summer).
• Long Leave: A longer break, usually spanning a weekend and a few days, allowing boys to go home.
• Short Leave: A standard weekend break.
• B Weekends (Exeat): Optional weekend leave for all boys. All boys are allowed to take all B Weekends and may leave Eton after commitments on Saturday and return by 6.15 pm on Sunday.
• Training Days: Days reserved for Masters before the boys return.
• End of Half: The official end of the term.
